Absence Reporting Line

Staff Wellbeing Hub - Easing the process for staff absence reporting

East Cheshire NHS Trust is implementing a new system, called the Absence Reporting Line, which will provide a streamlined service for the management of unplanned absence for both staff and managers.

It gives employees a single telephone number - 0330 8087980 - to report all unplanned absence.  This is available 24 hours a day.

It captures the absence information and automatically notifies their line manager

It does not replace the Attendance Management policy, which covers a wide-range of responsibilities for staff and managers – the Absence Reporting Line simply changes the way that staff report the absence.

It will also speed up the swabbing processes for Covid-19 testing where required.

We have created a Health and Wellbeing Hub team in the HR and OD Directorate to work alongside staff and managers, to assist in timely support for staff and managers, and improve the health and wellbeing of our workforce.

During the testing phase of the new system, all existing requirements and arrangements for staff reporting of sickness remain the same.

We have created a series of Frequently Asked Questions for staff and for managers in both rostered and non-rostered areas (see related downloads below)
